Sweet Little Punkin Patch

Ahhhhh! It's the most wonderful time of the year.
Yeh, I know that is a song about Christmas, but it's exactly the way I feel about the Autumn season.

And I know it isn't officially autumn yet, but I just can't wait anymore. So I am starting off the season by
making a  "Punkin Patch" using a special kind of Rice Krispies Treats for little hay bales. I don't know if this particular recipe has ever been made before (I couldn't find it on the net),
but it is a little twist on the Original Rice Krispie Treats recipe.

Try them and let me know what you think!

Ingredients:

 Butter Pecan Krispie Bars

7oz caramels ( 2 dozen caramel squares )
1 teaspoon water
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tablespoons butter
4 cups Rice Krispie Treats
2 cups marshmallows
1/2 cup Butterscotch Morsels
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

 Butterscotch Glaze:

1/2 butterscotch morsels
1 tsp water
1 tablespoon butter

Measure out all your ingredients ahead of time so you will be ready to mix together quickly.

Grease the bottom and sides of the pan well with butter.

Place the caramels in a microwave safe measuring cup with 1 tsp water. Heat for 1-2 minutes on med power.
Add vanilla, and stir until smooth. Place measuring cup in a bowl  of hot water to prevent the caramels from setting up .

In a large bowl, place the butter in a large microwave safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds in the microwave.

Stir in the marshmallow and coat well. Place in the microwave and heat at full power for 60-90 seconds until the marshmallows puff up.

Pour in the Rice Krispies Cereal and mix into the melted marshmallows.

Once coated, pour the caramel in and continue to mix.
As you mix in the caramels, fold in the butterscotch morsels and pecans until incorporated.

Quickly pour into prepared pan and, with buttered hands, pat into place.

Allow to set before removing from pan. I remove while still warm and allow to cool thoroughly before cutting.

Cut into bars.
These are quite rich so cut into smaller bars
than you would for the original Rice Krispies Treats.

When ready to drizzle the glaze, place the butterscotch morsels in a microwave safe measuring cup with 1 teaspoon water.  Heat at med power for 1 minute, stir. Heat again for 30 seconds at medium power if necessary.

Add butter and stir until it is of pouring consistency.

Pour into a plastic piping bag. Snip the tip off the end to create small hole on the bag.

Drizzle across the bars, as shown, creating the Hay bale look.

When glaze has set up completely, stack your "hay bales" on a pretty plate.

Here I made a couple of Marzipan Scarecrows and a little Punkin Patch sign,  then added Mellowcreme Pumpkins, Candy Corn and Wilton Autumn Leaves Sprinkles to create my own little edible Punkin Patch.

Happy Autumn!!!
