Designing Women choose Books

I make many cakes and each one takes an extraordinary amount to time to design and execute. But sometimes the client already has a specific details already in mind; to which I endeavor to create a design that ties those aspects together into a cohesive cake presentation.

It is always fun and challenging: but some clients, from children to adults, have such wonderful and sentimental ideas. So much so, that it makes creating the cake a rich and fulfilling experience.

I will be doing the next few posts on those cakes which have generated from the very spirit of the client to be ultimately displayed as an edible centerpiece for a special event.

This first post is dedicated to the women who have helped design
special and sentimental

Book Cakes

Theresa was very clear about the details on this cake.
Why? Because it was for a Bible study group.
The subject of the study was Priscilla Shirer's book,
"A Jewel in His Crown".
What a thoughtful surprise for the group that week!

When it comes to details, Diana was very clear.
She wanted her daughter, Victoria,
climbing the ladder of schools to her final destination....
Graduating Class 2011!
We chose books, class albums,
to signify the schools her daughter attended.

Congratulations Victoria, you made it!

When Karen wanted a special cake for
her step mom, Dianne,
she wanted a theme to symbolize
her mom's first and foremost priorities.

"Faith and Family"

This was easily accomplished with
a Bible,
a Memory Book,
and  Framed Family photos flanking the cake.
All edible.

Books seem to be a common denominator,
with sentimental ties.

Claire and Jarred became friends by sharing
a common interest in the same books.

That friendship blossomed and
ultimately they became a couple.

When planning the wedding,
Claire wanted a book cake
for her special day
displaying all the titles
of books that she and Jarred
had shared together.

How special is that?

This last cake is the most recent cake,
but very very special indeed.
When Yolanda called,
she laid out all the special details
she wanted
on this cake for her dear Aunt Mattie.

A Bible,  A Virtuous Woman Spiritual Journal,

eyeglasses,  quill feather and inkwell,

and this scripture,
which we ultimately decided
to frame because it was so special.

"Before I formed you in the womb,
I knew you;
Before you were born,
I set you apart."
Jeremiah 1:5

I guess that spells out all one needs to know about Aunt Mattie.
A special lady indeed.
